The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research accepts the establishment of organized beaches in two protected areas and breeding habitats of the loggerhead sea turtle Caretta caretta, but under very strict preconditions and limitations.
These are the beaches of Argaka and Gialia about which the Central Committee is asked to approve the plans of use.
The Department accepts the establishment of organized beaches there but under very strict conditions regarding the beds, sea sports, wooden piers and cleaning of the beaches. At the same time, it proposes some terms so that the turtles’ nesting and egg production will not be affected.
