Old and forgotten Paphos mansions brought to the fore

Relevant News

Old and forgotten mansions of Paphos were brought to the fore five years ago when the coastal city was European Capital of Culture, Philenews reported on Monday.

Under the program ‘Around the City’ the exposure of old mansions had touched the hearts of residents who were reminded of Paphos’ glorious past.

That’s why state and local key players are now launching new efforts in a bid to revive the most characteristic architectural jewels of Paphos’ past years.

Recently, improvement interventions in the city are quite intense and it is now almost a given that renovation of old mansions are on the must-do agenda of authorities, insiders said.

Paphos 2017 had provided the opportunity for people to be transported to mansions in the city.

And for the first time in decades the famous Loizos Filipou Mansion in the area of Exo Vrysi had also opened its doors to the public.

Dr. Panagiotis Touliatos, head of the Department of Architecture of the Frederick University of Nicosia, had lectured at the time on the special architecture of Paphos mansions.

And history professor at the University of Neapolis, Dr. George Georgis spoke about the life and work of Loizos Philipou.
