Officials upbeat on tourism despite drop in bookings from Russia

Relevant News

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation anticipates an increase in tourist arrivals this year despite lower bookings from Russia. Developments in Cyprus’ tourism were discussed at a meeting of tourism stakeholders, including hoteliers and travel agents, on Wednesday.

“According to current information and assessments from our main markets, 2018 is expected to be positive with a potential increase in arrivals,” the CTO said.

It said that although bookings from the Russian market appear to have been affected by a weaker rouble, the opening of the Turkish market and the drop in the Turkish lira, the drop is expected to be contained and absorbed by other promising markets such as Germany, Israel, Poland, Sweden, Ireland and the United Kingdom,” it said.
