No more than 10% of adults are low performers in literacy and numeracy in Cyprus, according to the EU’s Eurydice Report on Adult education and training in Europe – Building inclusive pathways to skills and qualifications.

In particular, Cyprus ranks among Czechia, Finland, Slovakia, Estonia, the Netherlands and Norway in this category, the recently-released report also shows.

Moreover, Cyprus is among countries with a relatively low proportion of low-qualified adults.

And, at the same time, low rates of participation of low-qualified adults in education and training. The other countries listed are German-speaking Community of Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Montenegro and Serbia.

In addition, Cyprus and 10 other countries – Greece, Ireland, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, North Macedonia and Turkey – have experienced in recent years a particularly substantial rise in the educational attainment levels of their populations.

And they marked a difference of more than 20 percentage points between the 25-34 years and the 55-64 years age groups.
