On the first day of the implementation of the new measures against Covid-19 there were isolated cases of incidents.
Charis Charalambous, Secretary General of teachers’ union POED said that groups of parents staged protests outside certain schools against the measures. As he said, in certain cases they attacked the directors of school, they threatened to hit them and in one case one director received threats against his life.
Charalambous clarified that fortunately these incidents were isolated and that the majority of parents complied with the Ministry’s instructions. He also noted that the union is in contact both with the Ministry and with the Police so that the latter will intervene when needed.
