Police’s family violence unit is investigating a suspected case of sexual abuse of a primary school pupil by other school mates, philenews reported on Monday.
Citing a news item by Alpha Cyprus TV, it said that the mother has reported to the police that her son was sexually abused in the school bathroom by two older pupils. The child has been seen by a doctor and is being monitored by the “Children’s Home” unit that offers support to children who are victims of abuse and bullying, it added.
The mother has made statements to Alpha Cyprus saying that it had been difficult to speak out, but remaining silent would only lead to more victims.
