The Health Ministry said on Tuesday that health inspectors had checked two businesses with employees who had tested positive for coronavirus and both had complied with instructions as stipulated by the decree.
Although the ministry did not name the two companies, both Zorbas and Alphamega Hypermarkets had earlier today issued announcements confirming that some employees had tested positive for Covid-19 as part of wider preventive tests being carried out by the Health Ministry.
Zorbas said its employees worked at production facilities in Aradippou while Alphamega said the employees worked at its Engomi outlet.
Both assured that all required steps had been taken, in consultation with the Health Ministry.
In an announcement on Tuesday, the ministry said that health inspectors had visited both businesses and found that they had complied with instructions.
As regards the supermarket in Nicosia, management had immediately disinfected the supermarket, placed employees in isolation and they are being tested. The business reopened with new personnel transferred from other outlets, the ministry said.
As regards the Aradippou bakery production facility, management immediately suspended operation and placed about 100 people, including the employees who had tested positive and their close contacts in quarantine at a hotel under guard. Sample taking has started from their close contacts and the remaining employees who are in home isolation.
In order to resume production, management is carrying out tests on employees who are in self-isolation as a precaution for 14 days (the company operates with different groups of employees) to determine whether they can go back to work.
The ministry added that health inspectors will carry out checks on businesses to ensure compliance.
