The Ministry of Agriculture clarified on Friday that citizens should report illegal dumping of waste to their local municipality following relevant questions from the public who enquired which is the competent authority to file a report with.
In particular, the public should file a complaint with their municipality’s complaints department should they spot illegal discarding of waste in public areas distorting the landscape and inviting infestation.
The clarification came after the Ministry announced earlier this week the appointment of 118 inspectors to tackle the out-of-control discarding of waste in fields and streets.
In addition, it was mentioned that municipalities and communities will inform their constituents in the coming days on the exact procedure to be followed to report illegalities.
