Police on Tuesday arrested two community leaders who prevented the driver of the excavator tasked with starting works for the transfer of a controversial asphalt plant in Mitsero area to do so.
At the same time, some 100 residents of the area have staged a new protest against the operation of the plant there – and this time they blocked two roads.
These are the ones from Kato Moni to Agios Ioannis Maloundas and they are closed in both directions. Traffic police members are there assisting passing drivers.
The two community leaders who were arrested are those of Mitsero and of Agrokipia.
