Masks in Cyprus are mandatory in all outdoor public spaces – in addition to indoors – for all over the age of 12 as of Friday. Violators will be fined with €300.

This is part of a bundle of stricter restrictions announced by the government aiming to slow down the rampant spread of coronavirus. All measures will be in effect till November 9.

Exempt from this rule are people who are exercising or actively eating or drinking.

Also exempt are people with mental or development disorders who are unable to comply with face mask use, as are people with several neurological or neuromuscular diseases who are unable to wear a mask, and people who have anatomical deformities or injuries.

The new rule comes to pile up on top of the rule already in place requiring masks to be worn in indoor spaces when more than two people are present.

At the same time, the coastal areas of Limassol and Paphos where the epidemiological state is very negative, an 11pm curfew is also imposed.

And dining and entertainment venues are ordered to close at 10:30pm.
