Man held for illegal possession of property after Paphos police find 345 watches

A 44 year old man is under arrest in Paphos as part of police investigations into a case of illegal possession of property and trading in products that violate trademark laws.

Police said that at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday, police searched the suspect’s house in Peyia where they found 345 watches, 36 mobile telephones, 17 cartons of cigarettes, various items of clothing and accessories.

The 44 year old, who is from Bulgaria, was questioned at the police station. He said that he had bought the items online with the intent of selling them to clients in Cyprus.

He was arrested as police continue their investigations. Customs officials will today be asked whether the items are genuine or pirated.
