Police are investigating a case of illegal possession of property after arresting a 49 year old man who could not give a satisfactory explanation as to how he obtained €16,000 he had in his possession.
Nicosia police had stopped the man at around 11 pm on Monday night after he parked his motorbike outside a building in Nicosia. They found a small bag in his possession with more than €16,000 in cash.
When he could not give a satisfactory explanation about the money he was arrested for possession of stolen property.
He resisted arrest and started shouting, and is also being held for impeding a police officer in the exercise of his duties and for causing a public nuisance.
