A 62 year old from Limassol district was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of hurting an animal.
His arrest followed a complaint filed by a 36 year old that one of his dogs had been shot dead.
He said that he had taken his three hunting dogs for training in the Limassol hinterland. He said his dogs had gone off and approached a building where someone shot at them, killing one of the three.
Police from Lania and Kalo Chorio went to the area and searched the building where they found a hunting rifle, 11 full cartridges and one empty cartridge.
The dog was examined by a government vet who determined that it had died from pellets that hit vital organs.
