A 47 year old man wanted for the attempted murder of a Sri Lankan woman in Limassol on Monday was arrested at Larnaca Airport in the early hours of Tuesday as he was trying to leave the country.
Police had earlier issued an arrest warrant for the man, who is also from Sri Lanka and the woman’s husband. The couple are separated.
A 75 year old Greek Cypriot was arrested late on Monday. He is suspected of being the person who drove the Sri Lankan to the house where the attack occurred. He denies any involvement.
The woman was stabbed in the stomach and face and underwent surgery at Limassol Hospital. She is in the intensive care unit and her condition is described as critical.
