Low percentages of distance working in Cyprus

Relevant News

Speaking to state broadcaster, epidemiologist Michael Voniatis said epidemiological indicators have gotten worse due first of all to work places and then to schools.

As he said the percentage of confirmed cases at school is 10-12%, so schools must not be targeted. He stressed that the problem is mainly at work places who are not sufficiently checked and constitute cluster where chains of confirmed cases are developed.

Voniatis pointed out that distance working is a popular measure in many European country and should have been implemented in Cyprus a long time ago.

He underlined that the government’s decision for distance working at 20% is not satisfactory.

Finally he did not exclude the possibility of further measures if needed but stressed that lockdown will only be implemented if mutations of the virus appear that cannot be addressed with vaccination.
