Limassol’s 2021 carnival festival ‘highly unlikely’ to take place

Relevant News

Limassol Municipality is to cancel all upcoming big events in the coastal city such as Christmas celebrations but also the ever popular carnival festival which takes place 50 days before Orthodox Easter.

This is what Cultural Committee head Neophytos Charalambides told Philenews on Thursday, adding that final decisions on the 2021 Carnival Festival have not been taken yet.

However, he did warn that it is highly unlikely it will take place considering the alarming spread of the coronavirus, especially in Limassol district.

Charalambides also said that the past couple of days would have marked the call for participation for both the small and grand parade.

But he did not rule out the possibility of some small-scale carnival events to take place in the city but in such a way that  they would not jeopardise public health.
