The Limassol District Court remanded in custody for five days on Wednesday a 20-year-old for child pornography.
He had been arrested on Tuesday night by members of the police cybercrime arm after evidence was gathered against him during an investigation.
According to the police, the 20-year-old used a fake social media account to obtain a video of sexual context from a minor. The suspect reportedly also sent the minor a file with pornographic content.
Following an investigation, police identified the suspect and found that he was also associated with information previously received by Europol for similar offences.
The 20-year-old was then arrested pursuant to a court order and his mobile phone was held as evidence for judicial examinations.
The police’s Cybercrime Office is continuing investigations.
