Limassol Municipality is preparing Easter packages for the vulnerable and reaching out to non-Greek speakers as part of efforts to address the coronavirus crisis.
It also said that its disinfection programme will be expanded to all the neighbourhoods.
A teleconference was was held with representatives of the Russian community and one will be held tomorrow with the municipality’s inter-cultural council. More teleconferences are being planned with other organised communities in the town to better inform non-Greek speakers.
The municipality said that it was also giving practical support to animal welfare associations for their shelters, while in cooperation with the Association of Psychologists, social workers and psychologists of the municipality offer specialised support to those who need it and do not have easy access to such services because of the measures restricting movement.
Traffic wardens are increasing their patrols to ensure compliance with decrees prohibiting access to public parks, squares etc.
In view of Easter, the social grocery will be preparing special Easter packages for vulnerable groups which will be delivered on April 10. These are over and above the daily food parcels.
Meanwhile, cultural events are being live streamed in cooperation with the Pattihio as from Saturday.
