A 35 year old man who had booked into a Limassol hotel using a fake ID is under arrest on suspicion of breaking into hotel rooms and stealing.
Police said that as part of their inquiries into cases of burglaries from hotels in Limassol, they were alerted to a suspicious person at one hotel who they questioned.
They said the man had booked into the hotel using a fake ID. Another two people — a 29 year old man and a 27 year old woman — were also stopped and searched at the hotel.
Police found plastic gloves and a battery for an electric drill in the woman’s handbag and an electric drill and another pair of gloves in the man’s room.
All three were arrested.
Police said that the 35 year old had admitted during questioning that he had broken into a stolen from three hotel rooms and broken into a fourth with intent to steal.
Over the weekend, three rooms in a Limassol hotel were broken into with burglars managing to gain access to the safe and steal cash and jewellery.
