Limassol-Amathusia Rotary club awards high achievers

Relevant News

The Rotary club of Limassol-Amathusia has awarded seven local high school students who excelled in this year’s Pancyprian exams for entry at a university either here in Cyprus or in Greece.

The seven high achievers who scored 20 out of 20 marks in various fields of study are: Nicolas Constantinides, Eleni Efthymiades, Marina Perikleous, Charalambos Georgiou, Andreas Paphitis, Aphrodite Kyprianou and Chrysa Kanari.

Presenting the awards last week was incumbent club president Antonis Ioannou, along with Stelios Theophilou who is Senior Officer at the Ministry of Education and Culture in Cyprus.

Antonis Ioannou (pictured wearing the Rotary club’s emblem) said the high achievers’ awards have become a club tradition with the first ones been handed out 26 years ago.

He then wished for each and every awardee’s dreams to come true and noted that this is the first time that such a high number of students from Limassol manage to reach that goal.

The Rotary club of Limassol-Amathusia was founded in September of 1985 and admitted to Rotary International a few months later.

It endeavours to be an effective Club, setting goals meaningful to its members and the community at large.

The Club is run like a unified business-like organisation with up-to-date Rotary procedures.

Their latest achieved goal was raising humanitarian assistance and sent to neighbouring Beirut following last month’s devastating port explosion.

Also this year, the club contributed towards the purchase of two vehicles needed  by the German Oncology Centre in Limassol.
