A 23 year old who torched his own car because it wouldn’t start is under arrest in Limassol.
A 64 year old who sold it to him for 400 euro a few days ago was also arrested after it emerged he had failed to pay a number of outstanding fines.
Police and the fire service were called to an open area in Ypsonas just after midnight on Tuesday where a car was on fire.
The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes but the car was completely destroyed. Investigations showed the fire was a result of arson and belonged to a 62 year old.
He told police that he had sold it to the 23 year old for 400 euro who was paying him in installments.
Police tracked down the young man and he admitted that he had set fire to the car.
