Police and Labour Ministry officials on Tuesday raided two construction sites in the Limassol district as part of a campaign against illegal work and illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus.
They checked a total of 350 people of different nationalities and made 17 arrests, 13 for illegally employing foreigners, three for making and using fake documents and one for impeding the work of police.
All 17 were taken to Limassol district police stations and Limassol CID.
Moreover, another six people were called in by police and charged in writing for illegally employing foreigners.
Labour Inspectors also issued notifications to 14 employers regarding the undeclared work of 55 individuals for the total sum of €192,000.
