Larnaca kidnap case: Accused pleads guilty to sedating two boys

Relevant News

A 35 year old man who has already pleaded guilty to kidnapping two 11 year old boys last September appeared before Larnaca Criminal Court on Wednesday where he also pleaded guilty to sedating them.

The court adjourned until February 1.

Yiorgos Nicolaou had in November pleaded guilty to kidnapping the two boys from their Larnaca primary school but denied that he had sedated them.

With the change of plea in Wednesday, the prosecution asked for time to prepare a report on the events. The court set the trial to resume on February 1. It also asked the Welfare Services to prepare a report on the defendant who will remain in police custody until then.

The abduction of the two boys from the Kamares primary school before the start of class on September 25 had triggered a massive hunt. The two boys were found in the defendant’s apartment, close to the school,  a few hours later.

They were unharmed but confused. It later emerged that they had been given sedatives.
