Relevant News

Larnaca district court on Tuesday sentenced a 51 year old man to jail for two weeks and banned him from driving for two months after he pleaded guilty to drunk driving and causing an accident.

Larnaca traffic police chief Haris Hadjiyiasemi told the Cyprus News Agency that the defendant, a Romanian national resident of Dromolaxia, had crashed into a parked vehicle as he was driving on Tassos Papadopoulos street in Dromolaxia on Sunday night.

Police who went to scene found the man to be drunk. He underwent an alco-test with an initial reading of 121 ml and a final reading of 111 ml — which is 12 times the legal limit of 9.

The man was driving with a learner’s licence and without road tax or insurance.

The case was immediately filed in Larnaca district court where the man pleaded guilty and was sentenced.
