July-August mark alarming high number of deaths from Covid in Cyprus

Relevant News

July and August marked an alarming high number of deaths from the coronavirus in Cyprus even though January was the one holding the record so far in 2021.

In particular, a total of 106 people died between July 1 and August 25 with 93 of whom aged 60 and above, Philenews reports.

This leads to the double conclusion that – on the one hand there is a gradual but significant increase in the number of deaths of fully vaccinated middle-aged people as well as the elderly.

And on the other hand, there is a gradual but steady increase in the number of the vast majority of people under the age of 60 who are unvaccinated and become infected. These end up in Intensive Care Units of public hospitals.

The fact that coronavirus wards are starting to fill up again with middle aged people and the elderly is ringing alarm bells to state authorities.

Health officials stress the need for faithful observance of coronavirus protocols considering that “most elderly people who are infected with the virus and end up in hospitals, are infected in their homes by people from their family environment.”
