Relevant News

Burglars broke into an Ayia Napa jewellery shop early on Friday morning and made off with jewels worth more than €60,000 after assaulting the 77 year old father of the owner who tried to stop them.

The two hooded men broke into the shop through the front door  at around 4.50 am and took diamonds and gold jewellery.

The father of the owner, who lives behind the shop, spotted the men as they were leaving and tried to stop them but was beaten and has been hospitalised.

The Cyprus News Agency said the shop was not insured and does not have security cameras.

Police are investigating.
