Intoxicated driver in Kolossi hits parked car injuring mother and daughters

A highly-intoxicated 74-year-old driver in Kolossi, Limassol district, on Tuesday hit the parked car of a 44-year-old woman who was just about to get out of it along with her two daughters.

The mother and daughters – aged 11 and 13 – were injured with the youngest one most seriously. And the man was arrested after an alco-test recorded 68μg% instead of the legal limit of 22μg%.

Specifically, around 5:45 the 74-year-old man was driving his car on Kolossi’s Famagusta Street and under circumstances which are now investigated he hit the parked car which moved backwards and got immobilized.

In the parked car, the 44-year-old woman was still in the driver’s seat and the daughters were getting ready to come out.

All three were taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital but the 11-year-old suffered a ruptured spleen and was transferred to Nicosia General Hopsital.

The 13-year-old daughter suffered an arm dislocation while the mother suffered bruises to the head and face. Both of them were discharged after treatment.
