Instructions at schools about the new measures against Covid-19

The Education Ministry sent instructions about the new measures against Covid-19 to all Directors of public and private primary schools, Kindergartens, and Special Schools.

Specifically:

  1. Operation of Public and Private Primary Schools during 29 November-22 December 2021
  2. Entrance of students at school: All students must present a SafePass in order to get into school. The preconditions for a Safe Pass for this age group are either a COVID-19 Recovery Certificate in the last six months, a negative PCR or Rapid Test with a seven-day validity either in printed form or a text message.
  3. Rapid Tests: As of 29 November, all students of primary schools will undergo rapid tests through mobile units of the Health Ministry until the Christmas holidays.
  4. Protective masks: As of 29 November all students aged 6 and over will have to wear a protective mask.
  5. Entrance of teachers and other staff in Public and Private Primary Schools, Kindergartens and Special Schools

It is noted that as of 22 November the validity of Safe Pass will be checked through the CovScan application. Consequently all personnel must have the European Digital Certificate which they can issue through the website https://www.eudcc.gov.cy.

  1. All school Christmas celebrations in Public and Private Primary Schools, Kindergartens and Special Schools are suspended

From 29 November, all school Christmas celebrations are suspended while Christmas celebrations organised by other bodies will have to obtain specific permission from the Ministry of Health.
