The 27-year-old special forces’ contract soldier, who was injured during a military training exercise with a helicopter flight yesterday, remains in critical condition at the Nicosia General Hospital, according to the Defense Ministry spokesman Christos Pieri.
The spokesman said the soldier has brain swelling and spine fractures.
He also said, that within the framework of the scheduled exercise, the soldier jumped from the helicopter and fell into the water in the sea area in Lara. According to the scenario of the exercise, a boat rescued him but it was ascertained that he was unconscious. He was fist taken to the Paphos General Hospital and from there to the Nicosia General Hospital where he is hospitalized in extremely critical condition.
