Thousands of lightning strikes were recorded in the Eastern Mediterranean since 03:00 am on Friday, according to cyprus-storms.net.
A map published by meteo.gr, showing where lightning activity is most intense and where lightning rarely occurs, recorded 4,409 lightning strikes in the whole of Europe today, most of them occurring in the Eastern Mediterranean.
