The Health Ministry replied to an announcement by the teachers’ union OELMEK according to which schools may close due to the “test to stay” measure. The Ministry noted that the implementation of the measure allowed thousands of children to attend classes.

From the very first day of its implementation, the measure was accepted by thousands of students and parents. Specifically, yesterday 7 February 2022, 7,080 students who before the “test to stay” measure would have been in isolation, chose to use this measure and went to school. Out of the 7,080 students, 120 tested positive.

The Ministry noted that in a meeting that took place in previous days, suggestions by teachers and organized parents have been recorded and most of them have been adopted. The Ministry reminded that with good will and the cooperation of all parties involved the successful implementation of the “test to stay” measure will continue so that schools will remain safe and open.
