Health Ministry: Covid-19 cases at Columbia Plaza and Nicosia Hospital

Citing reasons of public health, the Health Ministry has informed the public that two of yesterday’s five coronavirus cases were at Columbia Plaza in Limassol and at Nicosia Hospital.

The other three were repatriations.

In a written statement, the ministry noted that the quarantine decree requires it to publicise within 24 hours the name and address of any business and/or public/wider public/ independent service/ local authority if there is a positive coronavirus case.

Based on information from the epidemiological monitoring unit, the Health Ministry said it wished to inform the public of the following positive cases from the lab tests of 1/6/2020:

–       Columbia Plaza, Limassol

Management has been informed that a member of its staff has tested positive and actions have been taken to remove the person and the persons who were declared as close contacts. Moreover,  the necessary action was taken to disinfect the area and permission was given for the business to resume operations, the ministry said.

–       Nicosia General Hospital

The state health services organisation were briefed about a positive case at Nicosia General Hospital and actions were taken to remove the person and those declared as close contacts. All necessary actions were taken to disinfect the area in line with protocols, it said.
