Gross average monthly earnings rise by 1%

An increase of 1% was recorded on an annual basis for the average gross monthly earnings of employees in Cyprus in the fourth quarter of 2017, according to preliminary data released today by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).  

In particular, the average gross monthly earnings in the fourth quarter of 2017 are estimated at €2.169 compared to €2.149 in the corresponding period of 2016. Compared to the third quarter of 2017, the average gross monthly earnings show a marginal increase of 0.1%.

Based on seasonally adjusted data, the average monthly gross earnings in the fourth quarter of 2017 are estimated at €1.892 compared to €1.885 in the fourth quarter of 2016, showing an increase of 0.4%.

When it comes to men, the average monthly gross earnings amounted to €2.313 in the fourth quarter of 2017, showing an increase of 0.5%, compared to €2.301 during the same period last year.

A larger annual increase reaching 1.2% was recorded in the average monthly gross earnings with regard to women, which in the fourth quarter of 2017 amounted to €1.998, compared to €1.973 in the fourth quarter of 2016.
