Full restoration of three listed buildings near Archbishopric in old Nicosia by year’s end

Relevant News

Full restoration of three listed buildings in Nicosia’s old part that were partly demolished two years ago upon the late Archbishop Chrysostomos’ order will be completed before 2023’s end.

This is what Philenews reported on Friday citing architect and former director of Town Planning Department, Athena Aristotelous, who was in charge of supervising their restoration.

The restoration of the houses of architectural wealth which are close to the cathedral the Archbishopric is is in accordance with the terms and specifications of the Technical Services of the Nicosia Municipality.

Their surprising partial demolition had sparked widespread outrage.

Aristotelous is set to brief newly-elected Archbishop George next week about the progress of the works which have resumed this month.

She believes it will take about ten months for their completion now that planning permission related to the internal modifications to the buildings has been obtained from the Nicosia Municipality.
