Lead poisoning the cause of death of a flamingo in Larnaca salt lake, authorities found.
According to Larnaca councilor Marios Koukoumas, the body of the flamingo was delivered to authorities for an animal necropsy on February 3.
It is believed that the flamingo came in contact with lead from a nearby abandoned shooting range, as authorities found high levels of the metal in the flamingo’s body and pellets in its liver.
