Police is destroying confiscated illegal fireworks this morning and a series of explosions is taking place at the Sia quarry outside Nicosia.
The process started at five this morning and is expected to ran through to noon.
Authorities are assuring the public there is no cause for concern as all safety precautions have been taken in and around the area of the explosions.
