A fire that broke out near Peyia state forest, close to the archaeological site of Ayios Yeorgios is under control, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
The Forestry Department said the fire started at around 10 amĀ and was fully contained within 30 minutes.
Two fire trucks — one each from the Fire Service and the Forestry Department, responded to the fire.
It is believed the fire, which burned 3000 square metres of wild vegetation, was started deliberately, the Forestry Department added.
