Fine and less warm than previous days, cooler weekend ahead

It will be mainly fine and warm today, although some 8 C  cooler than the extreme heat of previous days, while the dust will clear during the day, ahead of an unstable and cooler weekend.

In its early morning weather bulletin, the Met Office said  Friday will be mainly fine with increased cloud at intervals. Winds will be moderate becoming very strong on the south coast in the afternoon.

Temperatures will rise to 35 C inland, around 32 C on the south and east coasts, around 28 C on the remaining coasts and around 24 in the mountains.

Tonight will see increased cloud that may lead to scattered showers in the west and north.

Temperatures will fall to 17 C inland, around 18 C on the coast and around 12 C in the mountains.

On Saturday there will be intervals of sunshine and intervals of cloud. In the morning there may be isolated showers on the coast, but at midday and in the afternoon scattered showers or thunderstorms are possible in the mountains, inland and the east and southeast coasts.

The weather will initially improve, but will gradually become cloudy at intervals with local showers or thunderstorms. The latter may be accompanied by hail.

Isolated showers or thunderstorms are forecast early on Sunday, but later the weather will become mainly fine and relatively cool, with locally very strong north winds.

Monday will be mainly fine.

Temperatures will edge today to noticeably below average on Sunday, mainly inland and in the mountains.
