Friday will be mainly fine with a red alert for record high temperatures which are set to rise to 46 C inland and 38 C in the mountains.
All coasts will see temperatures rising to 39 C, according to the Mediterranean island’s Meteorology Service.
The red alert is in effect from 11am to 5pm.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Cyprus was 45.6 C.
As for winds blowing, these will be variable, moderate to strong, 3 to 4 Beaufort, over smooth to slight seas.
The fire hazard is extremely high in all forest areas.
