The EU House in Nicosia will be hosting the exhibition “The Amphora Project” until November 13.
Twelve Cypriot artists local artists were commissioned to reinterpret Cypriot terracotta amphorae in their own unique styles. With their free creative intervention they combined modern art with a classic symbol of Cypriot cultural heritage.
“The Amphora Project” is organised by the EU Commission Representation in Cyprus, with the support of Europa Nostra, within the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
After the exhibition in Nicosia, the amphorae will be transferred to Vienna for the official closing ceremony of the European Year of Cultural Heritage on December 6-7.

The terracotta amphorae were made on the wheel by Cypriot ceramicist Nikos Katelaris.
The works will be on display at EU House from 24 October to 13 November, Monday to Friday from 10am-4pm.
