Relevant News

The Civil Defense of Cyprus, in cooperation with the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief, the Civil Protection Organization of Austria, the Austrian Red Cross, and with the support of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA), will carry out in Cyprus an Assessment Mission Course (AMC) training/exercise of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, on 5-11 November 2022.

Approximately 20 experts from various countries will participate, aiming to transfer know-how and experience on issues of assessing needs and responding to missions of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

According to the scenario, the teams will visit all towns in the government-controlled areas of Cyprus and will meet with the local services and organizations involved to exchange information and be briefed on their way of response.

The said AMC program has been taking place successfully since 2006 and so far more than 1300 people from the 34 countries participating in the Mechanism have been trained in Cyprus.

This year the program will complete its work and by 2023 it will open a new cycle of training under new themes.
