Engomi Municipal Council has asked the scientific team advising the government on how to deal with coronavirus, to suggest wider testing among its residents as a matter or urgency to determine contagion in the community.
This could be done in cooperation with the two private universities in the municipality which have thousands of students, it added.
The municipality said its appeal follows remarks by Dr Leontios Kostrikis, one of the members of the scientific team of several cases of coronavirus at Engomi supermarkets, and the concerns voiced by organised patients who fear the virus may have been transmitted among Engomi’s population.
