English School Nicosia teachers on Thursday will protest outside the House of Representatives to protest the recent layoffs of three of their colleagues, Philenews reported on Monday.
Specifically, the announcement by the Struggle Committee of Private Education Teachers said:
“On August 16, 2022 the Board of Directors (BoD) of the English School decided to dismiss three of our colleagues, Myrto Hasapopoulou, President, Mairienda Stefanou, Secretary, and Maria Perikleous, Treasurer of the English School Staff Organization (ESSA).
“These dismissals are the tip of the iceberg in the tyrannical and authoritarian administration by both the Headmaster and the Board of the English School.
“Apart from being arbitrary, these dismissals are also illegal since they have nothing to do with the performance of the three teachers. As ESSA itself has made clear, the reason for their prosecution is their unionist action against the authoritarian methods of the school administration.”
