Αn effective EU Security Union, with stronger border surveillance and integrated migration management, is absolutely necessary, President Anastasiades, stressed today during his speech on the first part of the working session of the Informal EU Summit in Salzburg.
During the debate on EU internal security this morning, President Anastasiades stressed the need to “consider the new, important Commission initiatives on security issues” and pointed out that “an agreement on strengthening European borders and the Coast Guard is required to proceed immediately.”
The President also noted that “a strengthened permanent border management service with its own staff and with enhanced operational capabilities and budget will meet the immediate needs of EU Member States.
