€483,252 to 503 families from ‘Baby’s Dowry’ scheme

A total of 503 families had by September 30 benefited from the “Baby’s Dowry” scheme, sharing a total of €483,252.55 between them since it was launched, the Labour Ministry said on Wednesday.

It said that the scheme aims help to families with basic items needed on the arrival of a baby.

It is open to families whose children were born after January 1, 2017 and qualify for the basic guaranteed income or are recipients of public benefits or who social workers consider face special problems

It covers equipment, nappies, linen and other items for babies of a total value of €1,649.

Applications can be obtained from district social welfare departments or from the website of the Social Welfare Department of the Labour Ministry ( www.mlsi.gov.cy.)

The programme is co-financed by the Republic and the EU.
