Dust, rain and frost for the New Year

A high pressure system is affecting the region and a thin layer of dust will settle in the atmosphere over the next couple of days.

The rest of the New Year’s Day will turn increasingly overcast, with sunny intervals.

Winds will mainly be northeasterly to southeasterly and locally in the morning, light northerly and moderate force four in windward regions, over slight seas.

Temperatures will rise to 21 degrees Celsius inland and in coastal regions and 11 over the mountains.

Overcast this evening, with the possibility of thin mist forming in some regions. Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly and in northern coastal regions, light southeasterly force three and in windward regions, moderate force four, over slight seas.

Temperatures will drop to 6 degrees Celsius inland, 10 in coastal regions and 4 over the mountains, where frost is expected to form.

Mostly fine skies tomorrow, but turning increasingly overcast in the afternoon, with the possibility of isolated showers over the mountains.

Sunday and Monday will see overcast skies with sunny intervals.

Temperatures remain significantly higher than the seasonal average.
