Dry and mainly fine with some cloud

High pressure is affecting the area and Sunday will be mainly fine, although locally there will be increased cloud.

Temperatures will be a little above the seasonal average at 18 C inland and on the coasts except on the western coast where it will be 16 C, and around 10 C in the mountains.

Tonight there will be intervals of mainly fine weather and intervals of cloud, whereas in the west the weather will be partly cloudy and at intervals cloudy. Temperatures will fall to 5 C inland, around 10 C on the west coast, around 8 C on the remaining coasts and 1 C in the mountains where there will be frost.

Monday will be partly cloudy and at intervals cloudy as will Tuesday when scattered showers are forecast mainly from midday on, with the possibility also of thunderstorms. There may be snowfall in the higher Troodos mountains.

On Wednesday, there will be intervals of fine weather and intervals of cloudy which may lay to locally light showers or light snowfall in the higher Troodos peaks.

Temperatures are expected to remain at the same levels on Monday which are a little above average for the time of year, edging down on Tuesday and remaining at the same levels on Wednesday.

The depth of snow at the time of issue of the early morning weather bulletin was 78 cm.

Roads

All roads in the mountains are open but because of ice some are extremely slippery and drivers are urged to be particularly careful.

Police said the following roads especially slipper:

• Pedoulas-Prodromos
• Pedoulas – Pinewood – Kakopetria
• Moutoullas – Pedoulas
• Pedoulas – Kykkos
• Kakopetria – Karvounas

Drivers are urged to be very careful, to drive slowly and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
