Drunk driver with 11 times over the allowed limit, crashes his car

An intoxicated 21 year old man that was driving with more than 11 times above the allowed limit of alcohol in his blood, was arrested this morning, after crashing his car on a provincial road.

Police were called to the scene of the accident, on the junction between the Kornos and Pyrgos roads in the Larnaca district, at 745.

The 21 year old was trapped in the vehicle and was freed from the wreckage by a rapid response crew.

He was rushed to the Larnaca General where it was established that he had not suffered any injuries.

According to the police investigation, the man lost control of his vehicle, hit the traffic island and then an electricity pole, before the car came to a stop off the road.

He underwent a breathalyzer test which indicated 101 miligrams of alcohol in his blood, more than 11 times over the allowed limit of 9 miligrams.
