Drop in number of decree violations

There has been a drop in the number of violations of the stay at home decree overnight.

Police carried out 3890 checks islandwide between 6 pm on Tuesday and 6 am on Wednesday and booked 76 drivers and pedestrians, significantly down on the 127 booked in the same period the previous night.

There were also 1200 checks on premises. None were booked. Two premises were booked the previous night

During the day yesterday police carrier out checks at 1443 premises islandwide  and only one was found to be violating decrees introduced to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Moreover, 14191 checks were carried out on pedestrians and cars regarding compliance with the stay at home decree from 6 am to 6 pm on Tuesday and 106 were booked.

However yesterday also saw five booked at the swimming pool of a Paphos apartment complex and another five for playing football at the Stelios Kyriakides stadium.

All were foreign nationals.
