A 65-year-old man from Nicosia lost his life in a traffic accident on Wednesday evening on the Ayia Napa-Larnaca highway.
Stavros Panteli was driving a heavy-duty truck which – under circumstances examined by police – first diverted from his route near Rizoelia roundabout and hit a traffic sign.
The truck then stopped off road but not before hitting a high voltage power pole first.
Panteli seems to have died instantly, police also said and called for the public’s assistance.
